Travel Directions

MATTU is situated in the Leggett Building located in Guildford, the County Town of Surrey, 28 miles from the centre of London.

Adjacent to and affiliated with the Royal Surrey County Hospital (see the adjacent map), the building is easily accessible by road, rail and air. There is a Holiday Inn hotel located 5 minutes walk from MATTU.

By Air
From Gatwick or Heathrow, Guildford is easily reached via the M25 and then the A3. A half hourly rail/coach service runs from Heathrow via Woking. Take the coach from Heathrow, and then the train from Woking to Guildford. An hourly train service runs directly from Gatwick to Guildford.


By Rail
Guildford is on the main London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour line and is only 35 minutes from London with frequent services. From the railway station take the rear exit and cross the road to the bus stop. The taxi rank is located outside the front of the station.


By Bus
There are frequent bus services from Guildford main line station, on either the 16/17, 26/27, or the 36/37 services every 10 minutes to Egerton Road. Alight at the stop (opposite Tescos) just before the roundabout which leads on to Gill Avenue, proceed for 100 yards, then take the first turning on the left into Richard Meyjes Road, followed immediately by a right to the Leggett Building [a large curved building with a mounted top box].


By Road southbound
Take the Cathedral exit on the A3, and turn right at the first roundabout travelling under the bridge(following signs to the hospital). At the second roundabout (still following signs to the hospital)proceed straight on. Keep in the left hand lane and turn left at the traffic lights. MATTU is located in Daphne Jackson road which can be accessed by following the road round to the right on the one way system .

By Road Northbound

Take the hospital exit and tur second left at the roundabout.Keep left and turn left at the traffic lightsMATTU is located in Daphne Jackson road which can be accessed by following the road round to the right on the one way system .You may park in any of the following areas:


•  The car park in front of the CRC building (the red brick building in front of the Leggett Building).This is accessed from Daphne Jackson Road-a turning on the right
• The car park in front of the Varsity.[The grey building you pass when turning into Daphne Jackson Road

 We have been assigned a number of parking spaces on the newly built car park and the following map shows the directions to this car park.

A parking permit still needs to be displayed and they are valid for all parking on the grounds including the new car park.

Due to clamping rules parking permits MUST be shown at all times. They are available ONLY in the  main reception on the ground floor and you need to request a stamped and dated permit when you arrive (from the main foyer turn right down the corridor behind the stairs - the main office is first on the right)


Disabled Parking area is available at the back of the Leggett Building. Follow Daphne Jackson Road all the way to the back of the building.

Pickup / drop off / deliveries area is available at the back of the  building. Follow Daphne Jackson Road all the way to the back of the building.

Main Entrance can be reached from either the first right (Richard Meyjes Road) or the second right (Daphne Jackson Road) - both lead to a walkway which runs in front of the Leggett building. The main entrance is situated in the middle of this walkway. For assistance, on arrival please go to the main  reception office on ground floor.

To proceed to MATTU please take the stairs to the first floor.
