The Post Graduate Medical School is located in Guildford, the County Town of Surrey, 28 miles from the centre of London.
Adjacent to and affiliated with the Royal Surrey County Hospital (see the adjacent map), the PGMS is easily accessible by road, rail and air. There is a Holiday Inn hotel located 5 minutes walk from MATTU.
By Air
From Gatwick or Heathrow, Guildford is easily reached via the M25 and then the A3. A half hourly rail/coach service runs from Heathrow via Woking. Take the coach from Heathrow, and then the train from Woking to Guildford. An hourly train service runs directly from Gatwick to Guildford.
By Rail
Guildford is on the main London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour line and is only 35 minutes from London with frequent services. London Waterloo is also the terminus for the Eurostar.
From the railway station take the rear exit and cross the road to the bus stop. The taxi rank is located outside the front of the station.
By Bus
There are frequent bus services from Guildford main line station, on either the 16/17, 26/27, or the 36/37 services every 10 minutes to Egerton Road. Alight at the stop (opposite Tescos) just before the roundabout which leads on to Gill Avenue, proceed for 100 yards, then take the first turning on the left into Richard Meyjes Road, followed immediately by a right to the Postgraduate Medical School (PGMS) (a large curved building with a mounted top box).
By Road
Take the Cathedral exit on the A3, and turn right at the first roundabout (following signs to the hospital). Take the 3rd exit at the second roundabout (still following signs to the hospital). At the 3rd roundabout turn left into the Philip Henman Sports Ground.
Parking
Due to work being carried out on the grounds, the usual gravel parking is currently inaccessible. We have been assigned parking spaces on the newly built car park and the following map shows the directions to this car park.
The PGMS parking permit still needs to be displayed and they are valid for all parking on the grounds including the new car park.
Click here to view car park directions and map.
Due to clamping rules parking permits MUST be shown at all times. They are available ONLY in the PGMS main reception on the ground floor and you need to request a stamped and dated permit when you arrive (from the main foyer turn right down the corridor behind the stairs - the main office is first on the right)
You may park in any of the following areas:
• As you enter Richard Meyjes Road, turn immediately right into Daphne Jackson Road and there is a small car park near to the PGMS building (note most of these spaces are generally occupied by 08:30am).
• The car park in front of the HPRU building (the red brick building in front of PGMS).
• The car park in front of the Varsity.
• The fenced off gravel area to the left of PGMS.
• Please DO NOT park behind the PGMS building (unless disabled)
Disabled Parking area is available at the back of the PGMS building. Follow Daphne Jackson Road all the way to the back of the building.
Pickup / drop off / deliveries area is available at the back of the PGMS building. Follow Daphne Jackson Road all the way to the back of the building.
Main Entrance to PGMS can be reached from either from the first right (Richard Meyjes Road) or the second right (Daphne Jackson Road) - both lead to a walkway which runs in front of the PGMS building. The main entrance is situated in the middle of this walkway. For assistance, on arrival please go to the main PGMS reception office on ground floor.
To proceed to MATTU please take the stairs to the first floor.
