Mr. Peter Barton-Smith is a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and Visiting Senior Fellow at the University of Surrey, specializing in Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery for benign conditions including dysfunctional uterine bleeding, endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic floor dysfunction.
He completed a Fellowship in gynaecological minimal access surgery and a Doctorate in endometriosis at the MATTU from 2004 to 2008. Following this he trained in robotic surgery at the North Texas Hospital in Dallas in the USA before returning as a permanent Consultant at The Royal Surrey County Hospital. He is Course Co-organiser for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists national theory course for laparoscopic surgery, is a faculty member of the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg, is the Honorary Secretary and a founder member of BIARGS (British & Irish Association of Robotic Gynaecological Surgeons), is a Council member of SERGS (Society of European Robotic Gynaecological Surgeons), and is the UK’s European Epicenter Surgeon for gynaecological robotic surgery training.
