A one day course aimed at early and intermediate surgical trainees featuring live surgery of the management of elective oesophageal reflux disease and hiatus hernia. Including face to face teaching on anatomy, investigation, medical management, decision making, surgical techniques, management of complications and outomes.
Opportunity to learn and practice laparoscopic techniques of fundoplication in animal models including suturing using state of the art equipment.
The programme times are approximate and will be adjusted in relation to the live surgery.

Multiple cases of elective anti-reflux surgery and giant hiatus hernia performed by experts throughout the day and beamed live in 2D 4K and 3D HD with moderation from an expert panel of surgeons.
Lectures / Face to Face teaching
How to assess reflux disease ? Who should you operate on ? Who should you avoid operating on ? Anatomy and its common variations. Step by step anti-reflux surgery Avoiding complications and how to manage them if they occur ? Expected outcomes, managing functional problems post -operatively. The hiatus hernia and the giant defect. Variations in surgical approach - when is a specific approach indicated (partial wrap / Toupe etc….) Assessing and managing recurrent reflux after surgery
