Mr Ralph Smith

Graduated from St Georges Hospital Medical School, University of London in 2003. Completed medical and surgical house officer posts at St. Georges Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital.  Worked full time as an Anatomy Demonstrator and Clinical Teaching Fellow at St. Georges Hospital before completion of a Basic Surgical Training Rotation at and the MRCS Diploma in 2006. Appointed to the South West Thames London Deanery General Surgery Speciality Training rotation in 2007 with a sub-specialty interest in Colorectal Surgery.

In October 2009 Ralph Smith was appointed as Laparoscopic Research Fellow at the MATTU.

Primary Research Interest

The majority os surgeons currently performing minimal access surgery use a two dimensional image.Acieving precision performance requires interpretation of monoscopic visual cues to appreciate depth within the operative field.My research investigates the role of current stereoscopic visual systems in minimal access surgery
