A two-day Royal College of Surgeons of England approved course designed for general surgeons in training (senior basic surgical trainees and higher surgical trainees years 1-3) who have previously completed basic level training in laparoscopic surgery. The course trains participants in the safe techniques required to perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Practical skills training is supported by lectures and video demonstrations on the anatomy, equipment, techniques and complications. There are live surgery demonstrations and the opportunity to perform laparoscopic skills in trainers and up to three simulated laparoscopic cholecystectomies on fresh cadaveric pig livers.
