A three-day Royal College of Surgeons approved course with three days of basic surgical skills training in open surgery (general and vascular), trauma and orthopaedics and minimal access surgery. The course provides hands-on practice with individual tuition, assessment and personal feedback.

The Basic Surgical Skills (BSS) course is designed for doctors preparing for the MRCS examination and successful completion of an approved BSS course is a mandatory requirement for trainees who would like to gain their Certificate of Completion of Basic Surgical Training (CCBST). The BSS course provides an introduction to safe surgical practice within a controlled workshop environment.

A course handbook and DVD is supplied to each delegate.
