A three-day course for all junior trainees in gynaecology interested in gaining a solid grounding in the theoretical and hands-on aspects of hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery. Emphasis is on the technique safe laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and the use of electrosurgery, which is reinforced by supervised sessions in our state of the art skills laboratory on synthetic and tissue models, as well as live links to theatre.
Day 1 will include an introduction to hysteroscopic surgery followed by practical workstations where diagnostic hysteroscopy will be performed.
Day 2 will include short informative lectures on equipment,instrumentation,safe entry techniques etc followed by hands on experience at the practical skills stations where much emphasis will be made on developing hand eye co-ordination and dexterity.
Day 3 will include live demonstrations of minor laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures.
Throughout the course workstations will be available to gain optimum experience in minor operative procedures such as laparoscopic sterilisation,cyst aspiraction,minor adhesiolysis and simulated ectopic pregnancy.
