An Introduction to Laparoscopic Surgery for Theatre Personnel Course

A two-day course aimed at all personnel wishing to broaden their horizons when embracing this innovative technique.

This course will take you through all the basic requirements needed to set up an efficient laparoscopic service and will provide up to the minute information in all areas associated with laparoscopic surgery.

Topics included are:
   * Laparoscopic instrumentation - an in-depth guide looking at latest innovations
   * Modern camera technologies incorporating troubleshooting/camera etiquette
   * Safe creation of the pneumoperitoneum
   * The application of energy sources in the laparoscopic setting/electrical/mechanical
   * Step by step laparoscopy
      - patient selection criteria
      - port placement
      - surgical technique
      - port site closure
   * Complications associated with the laparoscopic approach

There will be a live demonstration of a laparoscopic procedure performed from our state of the art laparoscopic theatre suite. There will also be an opportunity to practice your hand-eye co-ordination skills in our newly equipped skills laboratory.
